OrthoCarolina Welcomes Five New Doctors

Meet Our New Specialists: Enhancing Patient Care Across Multiple Locations Starting September 1st, 2024

OrthoCarolina is excited to welcome five new doctors to our team, starting September 1st, 2024. Each doctor brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to providing top-notch care to our OrthoCarolina community. We can't wait for you to get to know them better and see how they will contribute to our commitment to providing the better choice for our patients.

Gregory Pereira, MD - Hand, Wrist, and Elbow Specialist

First, we are introducing Dr. Gregory Pereira, our hand, wrist, and elbow specialist. Dr. Pereira is joining us at the Mooresville and Lake Norman locations. Dr. Pereira holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Duke University. He also finished a Hand Fellowship at OrthoCarolina to specialize in hand surgery.

His deep knowledge and surgical skills are great for patients needing relief from pain or injuries in these areas:

  • Carpal Tunnel Release
  • Trigger Finger Release
  • CMC Arthroplasty with Suspensionplasty
  • Peripheral Nerve Surgery

Justin Rennard, MD - Foot & Ankle Specialist

We are also thrilled to welcome Dr. Justin Rennard, a Foot and Ankle specialist. He'll be at our Belmont and Gastonia locations, offering treatments for various foot and ankle problems, such as:

  • Arthritis Management
  • Ankle Fusion
  • Ankle Replacement
  • Midfoot/HindFoot Fusion

Dr. Rennard's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia, followed by earning his Doctor of Medicine at St. George's University. He then completed his internship and orthopedic residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. His specialization was further honed with a fellowship at the Orthocarolina Foot and Ankle Institute.

Outside of work, Dr. Rennard enjoys golfing, and spending quality time with his family.

Petros Koutsogiannis, DO - Spine Care Specialist

Next, Dr. Petros Koutsogiannis will join us as a spine care specialist. Dr. Koutsogiannis will provide comprehensive spine care with an osteopathic approach in Laurinburg and Pembroke.

He focuses on:

  • Adult and Pediatric Spine Surgery
  • Minimally invasive Spine Surgery
  • Endoscopic Spine Surgery

Dr. Koutsogiannis completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of South Carolina, followed by a Master of Science in Biomedical Science and then a Doctor of Medicine degree, both from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He furthered his medical training by completing his residency at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University and went on to complete an orthopedic spine surgery fellowship at William Beaumont University Hospital.

Dr. Koutsogiannis values his free time, often spent with his wife and two children, participating in outdoor activities. They also enjoy vacationing in Greece to visit family and friends.

Ryan McCarter, MD - Physiatry Specialist

We are excited to introduce Dr. Ryan McCarter, a specialist in physiatry. Dr. McCarter aims to rehabilitate patients to their best physical health. Find him in Belmont and Gastonia for assistance with conditions like:

  • Low Back Pain
  • Sciatica/Lumbar Radiculopathy
  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Herniated Disc

Dr. McCarter's educational journey began at East Carolina University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. He then advanced to the University of Maryland School of Medicine to obtain his Doctor of Medicine degree. Following medical school, he completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Atrium Health's Carolinas Rehabilitation. His specialized training concluded with a fellowship in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine at Wake Forest Baptist.

Dr. McCarter loves relaxing at home with his wife, son, and dog when he's not at work.

Taylor Bellamy, MD - Spine Specialist

Lastly, Dr. Taylor Bellamy joins our Winston-Salem Spine location as a spine specialist. Dr. Bellamy earned his Bachelor's degree in Biology and Psychology from the University of Georgia. He then received his Doctorate of Medicine from Emory University School of Medicine. His education was capped off with a Spine Fellowship at Harvard University, preparing him for his specialization in spinal care.

He offers advanced solutions for spinal disorders, ensuring personalized care. His treatments include:

  • Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery
  • Adult Degenerative Spine Surgery
  • Spinal Tumors
  • Adult Spinal Deformity

Dr. Bellamy loves to go mountain biking, play soccer and football, and cherish moments with his wife, a fellow physician in the Winston-Salem area when he's not at his practice.
