Biography

Dr. Pereira was raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and completed his undergraduate education at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he was awarded a four-year academic scholarship. He then moved to Philadelphia for medical school at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania where he worked at the Center for Health Care Transformation and Innovation. After medical school, Dr. Pereira returned to North Carolina for the remainder of his medical training, completing his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Duke University Medical Center and his Fellowship in Hand, Microvascular, and Upper Extremity Surgery at OrthoCarolina.

In addition to his surgical expertise, Dr. Pereira has remained active in clinical research and innovation within orthopedics to improve patient care. He has published over 20 peer-reviewed publications, presented at regional and national conferences, and has worked with industry partners on the development of medical devices.

Outside of orthopedics, Dr. Pereira enjoys spending time with friends and family at the lake and continues to practice a variety of water sports including wakeboarding, wake surfing, and slalom skiing. He also enjoys watching basketball and football, traveling, and hiking with his wife and two rescue puppies.
