Michael (Mike) Long, PA-C

Biography

Michael Long has been a valuable member of OrthoCarolina since 1991 as a Board-Certified Physician Assistant. Prior to joining OrthoCarolina, Mr. Long spent 20 years in the United States Air Force as a Pararescueman and Physician Assistant. Michael Long earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Oklahoma. He then attended the physician assistant training program at the US Air Force School of Health Care Sciences. After serving a dermatology externship at the Wilford Hall U.S. Air Force Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, Mr. Long completed a residency as a physician assistant in Orthopedic Surgery at the Wright-Patterson US Air Force Medical Center, Ohio. Michael Long was decorated with the Airman’s Medal, the U.S.A.F. Meritorious Service Medal and two Air Force Commendation Medals for his military service. As a professional, Michael Long is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants as well as the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants, the North Carolina Medical Society, the Mecklenburg County Medical Society, the Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery and the U.S.A.F. Pararescue Association. A well-qualified physician assistant, Michael Long has worked for a variety of our orthopedic surgeons over the years, to include Hand, Total Joints, Sports Medicine and Spine. He has been a member of our Orthopedic Urgent Care Clinic since it first opened. Physician Assistant Michael Long is currently a member of the Orthocarolina Spine Team and works under the supervision of Dr. Bruce Darden and Dr. Alden Milam.
