After 95 days in hospitals, Kristan, a Matthews, N.C., mother of five children ages 11 to 18 months, returned home to her family. OrthoCarolina Drs. Glenn Gaston and Carroll Jones were part of the team that performed her surgery.
Kristan’s resilience is a powerful message of hope as she continues to move forward with her life and bring a community together. Her perseverance and strength have inspired many including our staff at OrthoCarolina.
Kristan has already begun to master the use of three prosthetic limbs, as she returns to the duties of motherhood. The 38-year-old fitness instructor and marathoner also hopes to run again. On Saturday, a community rally and race in Kristan’s honor is expected to draw more than 600 people to help raise money for her medical and other expenses.
