How many years have you been a PA? / How many years have you been a PA with OrthoCarolina?
I graduated PA School in August 2017 and started working for OrthoCarolina in January 2018. I’m very lucky and grateful to land such a great opportunity out of school, I’m also very excited to finally put all my training to good use!
What made you decide to become a PA?
I always knew I wanted to have some kind of career in medicine; I actually worked and observed in several different fields such as optometry and dentistry. However, my experience with PAs was by far the best, I love how hands-on we can be with patients while also working closely with the doctors.
What is a big challenge in your job?
I notice it’s easy to rush through patients throughout the day. I really make it a goal to hear each patient’s story and try to put myself in their shoes. Forming these relationships helps me be a better provider and hopefully helps patients feel comfortable with my care.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I love the Gastonia office. Everyone is so nice and really looks out for each other. It makes a huge difference during long days when you’re happy to be at work.
When you were younger what did you want to be when you grew up?
