Mallard Creek Surgery Center is now open at OrthoCarolina’s University location, offering outpatient procedures and orthopedic surgical services for patients of all ages. The facility has partnered with American Anesthesiology for anesthesia care and post-anesthesia recovery. One of three physician-owned Ambulatory Surgery Centers awarded a demonstration project from the State of North Carolina; Mallard Creek Surgery Center is the only such facility in the Charlotte area. OrthoCarolina also is partnered with several other surgery centers in the region.
Services offered will include foot and ankle, knee, elbow, shoulder and spine surgery, cartilage restoration & sports-related treatment. Combined with sedation and general anesthesia, ultrasound technology will assist anesthesiologists in placing a variety of pain relieving nerve blocks allowing the anesthesia to be tailored to each patient’s specific needs and surgery type.
Anesthesia providers at the facility will be certified in basic life support (BLS), advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS), and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) in addition to their anesthesia training. All nurses will additionally be certified in BLS, ACLS and PALS.
